The magnificent, 141-foot schooner COLUMBIA offers the rare opportunity to experience pure grace and swiftness under sail coupled with five-star service and luxury.
Launched in 2014, this stunning vessel is a replica of a famous Starling Burgess-designed Gloucester fishing and racing schooner, built in 1923 in Essex, Massachusetts. The spectacular new COLUMBIA is as loyal to the original as possible, from the two dories she carries—a rowboat and a sailboat—to her traditional rigging and deadeyes. Modern modifications include a steel hull, hydraulic winches, two state-of-the-art engines, a bow thruster, complete navigation equipment, underwater lighting, and a multimedia entertainment system.
While the original schooner would have had fish holds below, guests aboard this new yacht are welcomed into a glowing interior featuring fine woodwork and inlay crafted from such woods as tiger maple and mahogany. A large table and seating are located to port; to starboard, L-shaped sofas are arranged around a coffee table that rises to cocktail height. Forward of the salon, an open galley keeps the atmosphere from being overly formal and allows guests the pleasure of observing the preparation of memorable meals. With an electric fireplace, plus air-conditioning and heating, the interior always remains comfortable.
COLUMBIA has been fitted with four cabins sleeping up to 12 people. The two twin cabins have fixed bunks, while there are Pullmans in the master and VIP cabins. The new COLUMBIA offers one more amenity those old fishermen never dreamed of: a large Jacuzzi in the master bath.
